Recently, the 2022 Volkswagen Golf R 20 Years special edition will mark the 20th anniversary of Volkswagen’s legendary Golf R hot hatch, and it is set to arrive in Australia this year.

The Golf R, Volkswagen’s most popular hot hatchback, has been around for 20 years. Volkswagen sold more than 2.6 lakh Volkswagen R vehicles. Golf R 20 Years will be available for around one year according to a Volkswagen spokesperson and it will be the most powerful Golf ever produced.

Interiors and Exteriors of Volkswagen Golf R 20 Years:

The Golf R 20 Years edition boasts a 5-seater interior with Nappa leather upholstery, a blue ‘R’ emblem on the upper backrests, automated climate control, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It uses the normal Golf R’s 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment console. Multiple airbags, ABS, and EBD enhance the passengers’ safety.

A muscular bonnet, a sleek grille with a light bar-like DRL extending across the width, broad air dams, a front splitter, and LED headlamps to distinguish the Volkswagen Golf R 20 Years edition. It has blacked-out pillars, ORVMs mounted on indicators and 19-inch wheels. A diffuser, wrap-around taillamps, and a roof-mounted spoiler are there on the car’s rear end.

Other Specifications:

According to Volkswagen, Golf can sprint from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.6 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the ordinary Golf R hatchback. Volkswagen has added another feature that allows owners to start their Golf R 20 Years at car engine speeds of up to 2500rpm, which would make the start-up louder. The transmission and engine are there deliver a slightly different feel to that of the standard car.

Turbocharger generates 328hp of power at a 7-speed DSG gearbox and an open throttle valve in overrun phases has increased engine responsiveness.

Along with the performance upgrades, the Golf R Special Edition comes standard with an Akrapovic titanium sports exhaust, which is frequently an expensive option in Europe and hasn’t been available on any VW goods in Australia since the 2019 Golf R Special Edition.

The anniversary model isn’t likely to cost much more than the ordinary Golf R hatchback, which starts at $65,990 before on-road charges in Australia, because it includes a number of amenities that are already standard on the Australian-spec car.
