Toyota cuts production Again for May and June: Top Models Affected

Toyota cuts production Again for May and June

Following a similar trend as with most car brands, the Japanese giant Toyota has also announced a cut in production across all its home-market factories. The decision will affect the manufacturing of all the most popular models of Toyota.

The news that Toyota cuts production again for May and June is not unusual as there had already 15 production pauses since the start of 2022 alone by the Japanese Giant Toyota. Now Toyota has announced another round of production halt at its Japanese factories.

Toyota Production Pause

This isn’t the first time the manufacturer has had to alter its manufacturing schedule owing to supply chain and part availability issues.

Since mid-2021, the Japanese Company has made last-minute modifications to its manufacturing plans on many occasions.

Toyota has also said that more manufacturing modifications may be made based on the company’s ability to get components.

As per the reports, Toyota’s production projections for June 2022 will allegedly be trim by 100,000 vehicles, bringing total output to around 850,000 vehicles only. The major causes of production cuts are the continued semiconductor shortages and the COVID-19 lockdown in Shanghai, which has hampered the parts supply.

The same thing happened in May when Toyota reduced its forecast for the number of cars expected to be manufactured to 700,000, down from the 900,000 which was said to be the monthly average forecast in early 2022.

The outcome of the production pause is likely to result in extending the waiting time for fresh Toyota customers in Australia, who already waited for more than a year to purchase popular models like the RAV4 Hybrid – and about 2.5 years for the LandCruiser 70 Series four-wheel-drive.

Due to the impact of semiconductor shortages, we have adjusted our production plan by tens of thousands of units globally from the number provided to our suppliers at the beginning of the year.

The statement from the Toyota headquarters also stated “The shortage of semiconductors, the spread of COVID-19 and other factors are making it difficult to look ahead, but we will continue to make every effort possible to deliver as many vehicles to our customers at the earliest date.” – Source Toyata Global
