BMW Sales Down In Australia: Disappointing Month For Top Car Brands
BMW has seen a great decline in sales last month that is greater than its German rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz in April 2022. The impact on sales is because of the stock shortages and high prices
The market continues to be impacted by supply constraints, as Australia’s new car sales dropped 12.2 per cent in April compared to the same month last year.
As per the reports, BMW’s sales are down about 15.5 per cent in the first 4 months of 2022 with April being the worst compared to the same time last year, for Audi, the sales were down by a whopping 34 per cent which has been the biggest slowdown, whereas Mercedes-Benz experienced sales down of 19.6 per cent despite being Australia’s luxury car leader.
In 2020, BMW’s initial vehicle sales fell by 8.4% due to a coronavirus outbreak and a few months of store closures around the world.
On the other hand, BMW’s insufficient inventory has prevented it from selling enough cars in April 2022 – either to retail buyers or its own employees.
BMW sold 1600 vehicles in April, while Mercedes sold 2300 vehicles in April. Despite this poor performance, Audi sold just over 1000 new cars in April, leaving it behind BMW.

According to experts, “the new car models will be delay for a year or two until the auto industry catches up to the current market demand.”
According to all three German luxury brands, they are writing more orders than they can fulfil – but the statement seems ambiguous since –
Throughout the manufacturing and supply chain, COVID-19 is continuing to affect manufacturing and supply, particularly where businesses has to close and shipping has yet to recover fully. This is evident from the delay in delivering new vehicles.
