2023 Hyundai Palisade Detailed Features

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade will arrive in Australia in August with the Korean automaker confirming local features and specifications. Palisade will have a fresh look, better technology, and improved safety but prices are expected to rise.

The Elite and Highlander are two variations that will be available locally. Both models consist of a 3.8-litre GDi petrol V6 with front-wheel drive and the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel CRDi four-cylinder. All have an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Although power and torque ratings have not been confirmed, previous models (with the same engines) produced 217kW/335Nm and 147kW/440Nm, respectively.

Pricing is yet to be revealed, but expected prices to jump from the current Palisade Elite petrol’s $62,200 plus on-road expenses to $75,700 plus on-road costs for the flagship Highlander diesel.

Currently, a pre-facelift Palisade is available at  $55,700 plus on-road charges.

Palisade comes with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre guarantee and service intervals of 15,000 kilometres or 12 months.

Hyundai is also adding a centre airbag to the Palisade and has stated that it will submit the 2023 model to ANCAP for testing, after the safety authority’s recent four-star rating for the current model.

Australia will miss out on the second-row side airbags (for rear passengers’ bodies) that are available in the US, bringing the total number of airbags to nine instead of the confirmed seven.

Unlike other large SUV competitors, all three rows have head-protecting ‘curtain’ airbags.

Safe exit assists, a junction-turning function for automated emergency braking, Multi-Collision Braking, and intelligent speed limit help are all-new safety features for the Palisades, with the Highlander also getting reverse AEB.

As previously announced in April, the new model features an improved exterior appearance, primarily in the front.

A wider primary grille sits more vertically between thinner LED headlamps in the front, while the Elite receives a sporty tinted grille theme and the Highlander gets a chrome-look finish.

A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster are standard on all versions, as well as a redesigned four-spoke steering wheel design.

Both models include a new 15W wireless phone charging station and a 7 or 8-seat arrangement (up from 5W). For the 2023 model, a front centre-side airbag and a safe existing assist have been introduced.

Sales of the huge SUV are likely to increase significantly as a result of the update. According to VFACTS numbers, Hyundai Australia has sold 1776 Palisades so far this year (through May). This is a 27.3 per cent increase over the same period the previous year.
